Bani Thani (Lady of Fashion) is a famous 18th century Indian painting from the artistic style of the Kishangarh School of Art (Rajasthan, India) It is also called India’s Mona Lisa.
Bani Thani, the painting’s subject, was a singer and a poet in the Kingdom of Kishangarh ruled by King Savant Singh (1748–1764). It is said that the King fell in love with the singer who was an employee of his step mother, and commissioned the royal painter and artist, Nihaal Chand to make a painting of her.
